An Ode to Chanel

A collection of the most abundant gemstone in Philippine island, the pearl.Am using freshwater pearls as per supplier guidance.I handpicked each strand,I've tried my best!

You might be interested to know, valuable pearls occurs in the wild, and are very rare.Cultured and farmed-pearls makes up the majority of those that are currently being sold.Imitation or fake pearls are also widely sold on inexpensive jewelry stores.Pearls from the sea are valued more highly than freshwater pearls.Ideal pearls are perfectly round and smooth but many other shapes of pearls(baroque) occurs.Gemstone quality pearls are always nacreous and iridiscent, like the interior of the shell that produces them(excerpt fm wikipedia). We're lucky Philippines is one of the places were pearls are widely produced aside from Japan,China,Indonesia and Australia.

This collection is inspired by haute couture's most iconic figure,Coco Chanel(..yeah and the movie)She fashioned women's clothes out of wool jersey, which had previously been used for men's underwear.Onto it she piled fake jewelry, faux pearls which had been unheard of. (barthboehlert.blogspot.com)

Pearl jewelry a must-have in every woman's wardrobe, faux or real exudes elegance and sophistication. As Coco once quote "fashion fades, only style remains the same".Its really how you combine a pearl necklace with an outfit and how you carry it as they say .Like my cameos and lockets ,these pearls are timeless...=D

Thank You Lord!

I hope everyone is good and well!

This is my second day going online after the deluge. What a week that was,its memory will remain with us until our old age.We have just actually moved here in Cainta last June (the village's gate was still Cainta but the house is on Antipolo area already,we pay our tax in Ant City)after acquiring it 3 years ago.Our street had never been flooded and no history about it until that fateful Saturday.

It was like reminiscent of our probee training in Tanay, raining and brown muddy water, only this time its pouring hard and the brown water was flash flood right infront of our street and not some pond.Only this time,we have our kids with us and not our M16 to do the river crossing,as that has become of our street! It was quick thinking of my hubby to cross the street towards our neighbor's 3-storey house, which as even it was raining hard he still managed to asked permission if he can bring the kids in.

The water was below knees inside the house ,but was chest-deep on the street while we were on it,thats the only time I had a sense of danger coz the water was so strong already I feared for my kids. But I'm so proud of my 2 girls for they didnt fear the water and had actually enjoy the river-crossing!

There are a lot of things left that went under flood water cellphones, laptop, valuable papers, the materials I'm working on in our dining table, even the basic appliances we placed on top of our tables were not spared. The water rosed upto waist-level inside the house as we found out the next morning(though water had subsided by that time)the evidence was showned in the the wall marks.

It was terrible!but there are still a lot to thank for like being alive, like having everyone in the family safe(bro and family lives in Town & Country which was 7 feet deep w/ flood ), neighbors ready to extend help, classmates who responded to our needs so quickly(thanks to PNPA tagapagbuklod class of '89),family friend who lends his car,a friend who lends his laptop so I can multiply again!for the million stories of courage and generosity and for my kids and my hubby of course( I told him buti nalang ikaw asawa ko!)Thank you Lord!

Thank you for the chance to get our life back to normalcy.

Victorian Goth

These cameos had been laying around since July, for some reason I just didnt have all the materials available for me, as cameos and settings came from different suppliers. But then they're great finds so I have to wait for those settings and vice versa ,I wont settle for raw brass settings which are available in my supply site since I had vowed to used oxidized materials as possible coz they don't change their colors compared to goldplated ones.

I have just finished working on them including posting them in my multiply site.I'm glad also my mto's finished on time or else I will be contributing to the growing excitement & tension of our pretty bride-to be( I got to meet her just yesterday!) and a debuntant!

Right now I'm working on a collection for pre- Christmas season(fall if you must say) including the one on the photo ,lots of glass beads - black and red! I'm thinking of purple for Christmas.

I'm not preparing for any bazaar just yet,but I'm planning to join by October and have a grand sale or perhaps open our house for this purpose,I dont know yet.

RELIC

These set had been hanging around unfinished for the longest time, finally they're done and ready to go to their future owners.Religious- inspired beaded necklace though not so exact number of beads as in your Holy rosary/chaplet is the theme of this very limited collection.

The Virgin Mary Glass cameo is a vintage online find(this the one I wrote sometime in April in multiply that I saw in Rustan's Makati selling for 5900++ for a pendant only, set in brass ox setting similar to 3rd pendant in the photo).

The St.Therese decal on resin cameo arrived just this June from Canada, from my ol reliable source there. You may also opt to have it in simple setting not in locket form, just let me know.

NEW Cameo Rings!

Can't help but blog about these rings already, all cameos are hard to find with 1 Lady w/ cherub will be the most sought after especially for those who have the necklace on hand!Sad to say I only have 1 pc each.

June is going to be exciting as I will have new cameos coming both in my jewelry and supply stores!Thats the word exciting coz thats what I feel everytime I have new to offer!

NEW this June-Handpainted Cameos

This June offering are handpainted cameo jewelry. They're made of acrylics,as in your regular cameos, what makes them extra special is that they were handpainted by a real artist, please see how detailed her painting on each cameos, they're not just colored brushed but careful attention to details were taken to make each figure more vivid.Rhinestones were added also to make more glam.I think these are the "now"modern time's cameos,made-up and adorned like us ladies!

About my Brass Ox Materials

For a year now,I have been selling on-line,aside from people I met and "ka-text marathon",I'm learning some new valuable lessons.

If you read my product description, you'd read these words "brass ox","antiqued brass","oxidized" with a few idea of what they really are.

I prefer these popular finish on my pieces as cameos and lockets are reminiscent of the Victorian era and all other period thats comes after.Vintage and vintage-style jewelleries are not the sparkly bright yellow gold that we are so familiar with in our lifetime.
SECOND,oxidized supplies WON'T change their color for a long time!10K does!
THIRD,its keeps the price down without sacrificing quality,as you might notice my brass ox components are beautifully detailed and solid brass from charms to jump rings !SO we can enjoy these timeless, classics without sacrificing our kids tuitions, and still be able to enjoy them years from now.

So what is ox,oxidised?OX is the industry abbreviation for oxidized. This means that raw brass components are plated with a rich aged patina, then an antique(oxidized) finish is then applied which has a wonderful vintage appearance.A last layer of non-shiny protective -finish is applied to allow the items to LOOK GREAT for years to come without turning skin " GREEN".

I buy my supplies from this wonderful family-owned business, who according to their FAQ's page, provides "the highest quality brass base metal findings & stampings made in the USA and Europe. There plating company is the same one used by the US Navy,Chicos,The Limited and the PGA".

There is no Lead in brass nor is there any used in the plating process of the items you buy here, unless otherwise noted in the ad.

As to caring for your brass ox/silver oxidized jewelleries, just do as you would with other treasured jewelries you have, wipe clean and keep in a box, dont wear them when bathing or swimming and/or spray w/ perfumes.

So please read the description on each photo, coz I really do take time to write about each item,so you will know what you are buying and not just attracted to the the beautiful photos.

Thank you for taking time reading.

Why Purchase Handmade?

1.Each piece is made with LOVE and CARING.Precious TIME is devoted to each pieces. In my case my "ME" moments are for creating these pieces,I don't have other people who creates for me,while most of my other time are spend with my 2 active girls. If thats not enough, all my beads are soaked & washed before I start working on them!So each handmade pieces are really special.

2.They are DIFFERENT than your other MACHINE MANUFACTURED JEWELRIES.My jewelleries are handmade, maybe rustic at times ,you'll find imperfect loops at times or bite from my plier,if this is not your type of jewellery please DO NOT BUY.Interms of materials, most are vintage sometimes they're even wrapped on their original box or plastics, some of these materials show signs of ageing, patina etc which do really add to their appeal if you're into vintagey pieces! They are not fine jewelleries you'll see in some fancy jewelry stores. They're hard to find materials collected by jewelry designers who have eyes for genuine vintage.

3.Each pieces are UNIQUE,at Jul_Ena's, I might be able to make similar piece for a lucky request but it will never be exactly the same.I myself want my clients to have exclusivity of the jewelry they got.THEY ARE NOT MASS-PRODUCED!I get bored doing the same pieces over and over again, don't you?(thats what I did when I got job orders for bag charms last May,thats the last,no more!)

I strive to give you not only unique cameos & lockets but one of a kind design.Making vintage and vintage-inspired components into updated pieces for Modern Ladies who love vintage.

So you don't need to WORRY about wearing your jewelry on the next social event coz you wont bump into anyone else with the exact jewelry as you're wearing! YOU WILL BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE whole wide WORLD WEARING Jul_Ena's unique jewelry!

About the Lockets

The Lockets which were tag as vintage are items that my supplier did not bought NEW from manufacturers. They may have came from any number of sources and are of unknown age.Or they may have been bought from jewelry manufacturer that is currently selling excess inventory from decades past usually the 80's,these items might be practically new. This information was derived from my supplier which I believed to be correct, but not guaranteed. The descriptions-vintage,never been worn,new-vintage are provided by my supplier, there is no way I invent these tags to sell.I have tried to described each item as honestly as I could.I'm not an expert on lockets, I just love collecting and sharing them both old and perhaps new.

Most of the lockets are in very limited numbers only 3 pcs the most particularly the ones with New as tag, whereas the vintage ones which were quite hard to find were usually the last one of its kind.

Some of the lockets may have a slight amount of tarnishing, this is due to the nature of vintage brass. While others may have discoloration or minor scratch, which only adds to its vintage appeal.

jul_Ena's Cameos

!I love cameos in all sort of settings. They may not be the real agate cameos but still they evoke the same inspiration to me.

My cameos are made of acrylic/resin,glass and porcelain. The acrylics are brilliantly molded to every bit of details, almost like it was sculpted! It has to be seen to appreciate its true beauty. While the glass and porcelains are vintage hard to find treasures.

The 40x30,18x13 and 10x8 cameos are available in vintage style goldtone plated(brass)locket. There is a lovely Victorian design stamped at the back of each lockets and a pretty etching surrounds the front which holds the cameos. Each lockets opens up and holds 2 prized photos.Newly added to the collection are pendant settings and brooches both in silver and goldplating.

The lockets and chain are professionally goldplated and/or oxidized. They were treated with lacquer to retard tarnishing as claimed by my supplier. For goldplated lockets and settings, they should stay bright, but if worn a lot then the plating will eventually wear off in spots where it is in contact with skin and sweat. All cameos, lockets, settings and chain were imported from US suppliers.

I take pride in the quality and reasonable pricing of each cameo design. As I would like to strike the same interest to souls out there!

Change of Heart

Welcome! I am transferring here from now on,I found the previous site too slow that I almost neglect updating it.Like the previous one, this site is specially for my valued clients and yes future customers (if you happened to cross this page!)

Yes,ladies and chaps this is where I will be keeping my newest uber finds!an exclusive website for my VIP clients! You get to see them before they're out in the stores or in my multiply account.

As you are all aware by now my jewelleries are not only handcrafted by me but I import them as well, lots of time and love to come up with these one of a kind individual pieces,in the hope they'll become a part or start of a family tradition.

The materials used in each jewelleries are either new, vintage never been worn, uncirculated components.
